Data Safety Monitoring Committee

The Data Safety Monitoring Committee will perform the following activities:
– reviewing the research protocols and plans for data and safety monitoring
– evaluating participant risk versus benefit and other factors that can affect study outcome and may have an impact on the safety or the ethics of the study
– making recommendations to the investigators concerning continuation or conclusion of the trials

The Committee will work in collaboration with the Ethics Board on all aspects of data protection and confidentiality.

The DEEP-2 DSMC is under the responsibility of NKUA.

Marina Economou

Marina Economou graduated as a MD at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1995. She trained as a pediatrician in Hippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki and received her PhD in Pediatric Hematology in 2004. She served at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki first as a Lecturer in Pediatric Hematology and then as an Assistant Professor, position that she holds todate. She has recently become the Head of the Children’s Thalassemia Unit, as well as of the Bleeding Disorders Center for Children and Adolescents at Hippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki.
