Cypriot Ministry of Health - CMoH

The Thalassemia Centre of the Makarios Hospital is a public benefit organisation and an organ of the Cypriot Ministry of Health (CMoH) for conducting the population study of thalassemia in Cyprus. Individual studies for thalassemia patients or carriers, as well as family studies with the aim of examining the possibility of inheritance in subsequent generations are carried out. Closely associated with the Thalassemia Centre is the Department of Molecular Genetics of Thalassemia at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING), one of the first research and diagnostic organisations in Cyprus with a long tradition of excellence in the field of biological sciences, which performs molecular diagnosis and research work involving the Cypriot patient population.

Main tasks in the project

CmoH will contribute to WP4 objectives through the:

– Enrollment of patients for proposed pharmacological trial
– Counselling, local administration of the proposed study, long-term follow-up and analysis of trial subjects
– Collection of trial-related data and report to project management
