The 5th European Symposium on Rare Anaemias is an activity within ENERCA project to disseminate and up-to-date knowledge on rare anaemias and, at the same time, increase their awareness. The event was meant to provide a broad overview on prevention, diagnosis and clinical management of haemoglobinopathies and thalassaemia, on the current gene therapy approach for the treatment of thalassemia and a review the current situation of other rare anaemias patient’s community. An interactive session between patient panellists and doctors was also included and focused not only on clinical management, but also on prevention and social action issues for thalassaemia and haemoglobinopathies.

Within the symposium, Scientific Coordinator Adriana Ceci presented DEEP as an FP7 project focused on rare anemias.
